Fundraising First Aid Course

Each year about 300 Australian children (aged 0-14 yrs) are killed and 60,000 hospitalised by unintentional injuries. The most common place for young children to be injured is in their own home. Unintentional injuries make up around 90% of all child injury deaths. Many of these could be easily prevented if parents and carers had more safety and First Aid knowledge.

  • Injuries are the leading cause of death in Australian children aged one to fourteen years.

  • In 12 months approximately 1400 Victorian children were treated in hospital for burns that occurred in the home.

  • Over 500 children in Victoria each year are admitted to hospital with serious toy related injuries.

  • Each year in Victoria there are approximately 2300 emergency department presentations of children who have sustained serious playground injuries.
