Fundraising First Aid Course
Each year about 300 Australian children (aged 0-14 yrs) are killed and 60,000 hospitalised by unintentional injuries. The most common place for young children to be injured is in their own home. Unintentional injuries make up around 90% of all child injury deaths. Many of these could be easily prevented if parents and carers had more safety and First Aid knowledge.
Injuries are the leading cause of death in Australian children aged one to fourteen years.
In 12 months approximately 1400 Victorian children were treated in hospital for burns that occurred in the home.
Over 500 children in Victoria each year are admitted to hospital with serious toy related injuries.
Each year in Victoria there are approximately 2300 emergency department presentations of children who have sustained serious playground injuries.
